How French payroll deductions work
In France, net salary = gross − social contributions (pension, health, unemployment, CSG/CRDS…). These represent about 22% for non-executives, 25% for executives (“cadres”), 16.5% in the public sector and up to 45% for the self-employed.
This calculator shows net before income tax. Income tax is then withheld at source at a personalised rate (0–43%).
